How to Use This Simulator
VOR (VHF Omnidirectional Range) is a ground-based radio navigation system. This simulator teaches you to interpret VOR indicators and maintain a track to/from a station.
- Set your OBS (Omni Bearing Selector): Rotate the OBS knob to choose a radial
- Move your aircraft: Use the position slider to change your radial from the station
- Observe the indicator: Watch the CDI (Course Deviation Indicator) and TO/FROM flag
- Intercept the course: Fly to center the needle
- Track the radial: Maintain centered needle
Heading Doesn't Matter Here
A VOR indication (CDI deflection and TO/FROM) depends only on where your aircraft actually is relative to the station and which course you've selected. It never depends on which way your nose is pointed. You could be flying backwards and the needle wouldn't care.
Challenge Mode
Try to intercept and track a given radial within 30 seconds!

Training Challenges
Challenge 1: Establish a Track
Objective: Intercept and track the 090° radial FROM the station
Challenge 2: Approach
Objective: Fly TO the station on the 270° radial (flying east)
Challenge 3: Crosswind Track
Objective: Maintain the 315° radial FROM the station (northwest)
