🎚️ Flight Risk Assessment

Score your flight against the PAVE model before you go, Pilot, Aircraft, enVironment, External pressures.

How This Tool Works

Answer all 15 questions honestly. Each answer carries a point value (0 / 10 / 20 / 40) reflecting how much risk that factor adds to the flight. This mirrors the weighted scoring used in real-world FAA/AOPA Flight Risk Assessment Tools (FRATs).

The gauge on the right updates live as you answer. When you're done, the overall score sorts into a risk band with a concrete recommendation, use it as a structured second opinion, not a substitute for your own judgment or your CFI's.

Not a Go/No-Go Authority

This tool supports the decision, it doesn't make it. The Pilot in Command remains solely responsible for the final go/no-go call. Nothing here replaces a proper weather briefing, POH performance data, or a conversation with a CFI.

🧑‍✈️

01, Pilot (IMSAFE)

0 / 160
How much sleep did you get last night?
Fatigue is one of the strongest predictors of pilot error.
How would you rate your stress / emotional state?
Illness, medication, or alcohol?
Recency / currency for this specific flight?
Aircraft type, conditions (IMC/night) and route all count.
✈️

02, Aircraft

0 / 160
Airworthiness / known squawks?
Planned fuel reserve at destination?
Performance margin (density altitude / runway)?
Aircraft equipment vs. the mission?
🌦️

03, enVironment

0 / 160
Ceiling & visibility?
Wind & crosswind component?
Terrain & route?
Time of day & airport complexity?
⏱️

04, External Pressures

0 / 120
Schedule pressure?
Passenger / social pressure?
Overall comfort with this mission?
Be honest, this is the "gut check" question.
